Aquaporin is featured in 'Brave Blue World'
A documentary that addresses the global water and sanitation challenges.
‘Brave Blue World’ is an engaging new documentary that will showcase water like never before. The mission is to challenge some of the commonly held assumptions and change how people think about water.
The documentary paints an optimistic picture of how humanity is adopting new technologies and innovations to re-think how we manage water, and it provokes a fundamental re-thinking, revolution and paradigm shift in how people view the treatment and delivery of water, a vital element to life on Earth.
The documentary is based on 11 months of researching and filming across five continents.
The Brave Blue World initiative has Matt Damon and Jaden Smith as its spokespersons. In the documentary, we follow Paul O’Callaghan, water industry expert and CEO of BlueTech Research, as he visits sites to explore novel ways of tackling existing water problems.
Aquaporin was one of the sites visited, and we got to share how our technology can be used for solving water scarcity in terms of reusing water. Peter Holme Jensen, CEO of Aquaporin, states: “I believe this initiative is of big value for both humans and for the environment. We need to inform all parts of society from citizens over business leaders to politicians about the challenges we are facing and get them engaged in the solutions. So, when I came to learn about the initiative Brave Blue World, I was very pleased, and when asked to participate in the documentary on behalf of Aquaporin to present our solutions, I was really excited. I believe bringing together industry experts and well-known spokespersons is a big lever to get the messages across. I look forward to seeing what this documentary can lead to.“
Combining Hollywood actors with water experts
One might ask what Jaden Smith and Paul O’Callaghan have in common? The first is an activist, musician and actor. The latter is a water technology expert. However, what they share is a common goal of bringing together innovators and innovations to create hope for the future of water.

Matt Damon opens the trailer by saying: “Imagine if tomorrow we cured cancer and in 100 years there were still a million children dying of cancer. It would be unthinkable, but that is the situation we find ourselves in with water”.
We look forward to the premiere on December 16, 2019.
