PFAS is not the only contaminant you should worry about
When you think of contaminated water, you probably think of PFAS, but your water can also contain arsenic, cadmium, or even lead to name a few. Heavy metals in your water can pose a severe health risk that in worst case can lead to cancer.
Some heavy metals are released into the environment through natural processes and human activity. Industrial activities like mining, metal smelting, and combustion of fossil fuels are just a few examples that can contaminate toxic heavy metals in drinking water.
You may think that heavy metals are something only industries use. However, you can also experience heavy metals in your water tanks, or plumbing pipes, which can contaminate the tap water in your home.
Testing your water
At Aquaporin, we are focusing on creating the best drinking water for consumers. A recent test verifies our membranes' efficiency in rejecting various heavy metals in drinking water.
The test shows a high degree of efficiency, which secures you, the consumer, clean, heavy metal-reduced water. In addition, the contaminant concentrations in the processed water were all well below the guideline limits of different international standards such as NSF58, US EPA, and WHO.
Water purification systems based on the Aquaporin Inside® technology, using natural aquaporin proteins, are an effective solution to prevent the long-term adverse health effects from heavy metals in contaminated drinking water.
Think before you drink
Water is essential to us all. Some of us drink it straight from the tap, while others are forced to buy bottled water to be sure it is safe. Unfortunately, the lack of safe and clean drinking water is at the top of the United Nations' list.
This is exemplified by Sustainable Development Goal number 6, which states it needs to be ensured that all have access to clean water and sanitation. Yet, billions of people do not have access to clean drinking water. According to the United Nations, one in three people do not have access to a safe drinking water source, while two in five people do not have a primary hand-washing facility to access soap and water.
