From water dependency to global water hub

Singapore is one of the world's most water-stressed countries, relying heavily on imported water – an agreement with Malaysia that expires in 2061. This urgency has driven the city-state to pioneer advanced water treatment and become a global model for integrated water management. In 2011, Aquaporin established a permanent presence in Singapore to support the nation's long-term water security.

Our commercial team in Singapore expands our presence across Asia through partnerships that demonstrate how our brackish water reverse osmosis (BWRO) membranes solve critical water challenges and improve energy efficiency in key sectors, including wastewater treatment, semiconductors, data centers, power generation, and F&B ingredient water.

Perfecting in Singapore

Our Singapore department unites our APAC sales hub and laboratories – home to some of the brightest minds on the planet, our R&D team. Here, we bring our products closer to perfection through real-life testing and continuous refinement, supported by a semi-automated production center built to meet the growing demand for our FO modules. Furthermore, our R&D team in Singapore provides technical support, runs pilot projects, evaluates applications and materials, and delivers tailored customer projections.

Aquaporin x Singapore PUB

Through our long-term collaboration with Singapore’s National Water Agency, PUB, we have proved that our BWRO membranes, CLEAR, can treat Singapore’s municipal wastewater with up to 20% less energy. Through the collaboration, PUB is able to:

  • Reduce energy use by up to 20%
  • Maintain stable feed pressure and consistent permeate quality
  • Save an estimated 440,000 USD and avoid an estimated 230 tons of CO₂ annually
