Sustainability at Aquaporin

Protecting the world’s water

We’re here to make a difference. Aquaporin is built upon a commitment to fight the global water crisis and drive change. With our technology, we encourage responsible consumption of the Earth’s most valuable resource – water.

We work to eliminate the use of plastic bottles and ensure safer consumption of drinking water by improving the access to clean tap water and thereby addressing waterborne diseases. And we seek to ensure more sustainable production patterns by reducing wastewater volumes and the energy consumption of water treatment.

A resource under pressure

The Earth’s resources are under pressure, and we are here to preserve them. Water scarcity, pollution of waters, climate change and an increased freshwater consumption has created an immense water crisis.

The International Panel on Climate Change concludes that 80 % of the world’s population suffer from threats to water security. Urbanization, improved living standards and a growing world population are the main reasons. We sincerely believe that our technology contributes to a better tomorrow, and we are on a mission to address this problem.

A commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals

Since 2005, Aquaporin has been on a mission to ensure better access to clean water. Even before UN’s Sustainable Development Goals were formulated, our technology was developed to cater for the targets described in SDG 6: reducing pollution, reducing the proportion of untreated wastewater, increasing water reuse efficiency, and increasing recycling of water.

We work actively with the SDGs. Within the industrial water segment, our focus on the textile industry was selected in connection with our participation in the SDG Ambition Accelerator Programme. According to UN estimates, the global fashion industry is responsible for a staggering 20 % of the global wastewater discharge. The industry faces serious challenges with pollution and high dependency on clean water, but with our solutions, we empower textile factories to clean and reuse up to 95 % of their wastewater.

Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
